Lira Gets Hands Dirty with Mozambican Star Lizha James
South African music icon and Southern Africa Trust change4ever campaign ambassador Lira will get her hands dirty painting the Centro de SaudeMachava maternity clinic on the outskirts of Maputo, Mozambique, along with the Mozambican superstar Lizha James.

They will be joined by 25 young South Africans and Mozambicans who have been part of the Trust's Southern Africa Youth Exchange initiative, sayXchange. SayXchange works to expose young people to development challenges and solutions across the borders of southern Africa, and to promote active citizenship amongst young people in the region.

Once the clinic is painted, funds raised from the South African public through the Trust's change4ever campaign will be donated to the clinic for hospital beds, blankets, and other equipment that is needed.

The event will take place on Saturday, 31 August 2013.

""This is the first of many more people-to-people cross-border initiatives that the Southern Africa Trust will organise," said the Trust's special projects and campaigns representative Shekeshe Mokgosi. "It is our way of supporting a new generation to invest themselves in overcoming our shared problems of poverty and underdevelopment across the region rather than emphasizing our differences," he said.

Change4ever is the Southern Africa Trust's awareness raising, public participation, and direct-from public fundraising campaign. It raises funds to support solutions that address the root causes of poverty in southern Africa.
